What we install

Every HVAC system your build needs.

We don't subcontract work out or cut corners on code. Everything listed here is work we do in-house, permitted under our own license, with our crew on site.

Fourplex & Multi-Unit Rough-In

Four units. One crew. One schedule that doesn't slip.

  • Per-unit furnace + HRV
  • Single building permit
  • Sequenced with framing
  • Inspections coordinated direct

We do

  • Per-unit independent systems
  • Single permit under our license
  • Site-super milestone check-ins
  • Inspection day on site

We don't

  • Shared air between units
  • Wait on master-contractor permits
  • Re-quote when schedules slip
  • Subcontract the rough-in out
1.

We review your plans pre-framing and flag any HVAC conflicts with structural before they're buried in walls.

2.

Rough-in runs concurrent with framing — we don't wait for drywalling to start. Every penetration is permit-correct.

3.

We coordinate the inspection date with your site schedule and handle all follow-up with the city inspector directly.

Custom & Infill Homes3–5 days on site

Infill & Custom Home HVAC

Designed from your architect's plans, not retrofitted.

  • Heat-loss sized (NBC 9.36)
  • 96%+ AFUE furnaces
  • Central A/C in-wall
  • Ecobee thermostat per zone

We do

  • Manual J before quoting
  • Trunk + branch duct design
  • Lennox / Carrier / Trane
  • Permit + final inspection

We don't

  • Oversize to pad the invoice
  • Estimate airflow at handover
  • Add soffits without warning
  • Quote off room counts alone
1.

We receive your architectural drawings and run a heat loss calc before we quote — so the equipment size is right, not estimated.

2.

Ductwork is laid out to match your ceiling heights and joist direction. No soffits added where your designer didn't plan for them.

3.

We handle the HVAC permit and show up for final inspection with all documentation ready.

Legal Basement Suites2–3 days on site

Basement Suite HVAC Systems

A legal suite needs its own HVAC. Not a tap-off.

  • Independent furnace + ducts
  • ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation
  • Separate suite permit
  • Code-correct fire separation

We do

  • Fully independent suite system
  • Standalone HVAC permit pull
  • Fire separation at penetrations
  • Coordinate with occupancy date

We don't

  • Tap off the upper unit
  • Share furnaces between units
  • Cut corners on fire stops
  • Risk your final occupancy
1.

We assess the existing HVAC and determine the cleanest route for the suite system without compromising the primary unit.

2.

Suite furnace, ductwork, and ventilation are installed as a fully self-contained system — nothing shared.

3.

We permit the suite separately and coordinate the inspection so it doesn't hold up your occupancy permit.

HRV & Ventilation Systems

Tight buildings need balanced HRV. No workaround.

  • Sized to NBC 9.32
  • Balanced supply + exhaust
  • Defrost rated to -35°C
  • Measured CFM at every port

We do

  • Aprilaire / Venmar / Lifebreath
  • Duct layout pre-insulation
  • Documented commissioning report
  • Bath + utility exhaust runs

We don't

  • Estimate airflow numbers
  • Skip the defrost setup
  • Bolt HRV on after drywall
  • Use bath fans as ventilation
1.

HRV unit location and duct routing are planned during the rough-in stage — not added as an afterthought after insulation goes in.

2.

Duct runs are laid out to hit every principal room with fresh air supply while pulling stale air from bathrooms and utility spaces.

3.

We balance the system at commissioning — measured CFM on every port, not an estimate.

High-Efficiency Furnaces & Central A/C

The core of every system — sized right, installed clean.

  • 96%+ AFUE gas furnaces
  • Properly matched A/C
  • Two-stage and modulating
  • CSA B149.1 gas + venting

We do

  • Heat-loss-matched equipment
  • Refrigerant lines pre-drywall
  • Combustion air per spec
  • Startup + commissioning

We don't

  • Catalogue-flip the sizing
  • Surface-mount A/C lines later
  • Leave gas hookups to others
  • Skip startup balancing
1.

Equipment is selected after heat loss calc — not before. We don't over-size systems to pad the invoice.

2.

Furnace and A/C rough-in happens concurrently with framing — refrigerant lines, gas lines, and venting are all in before insulation.

3.

Startup, commissioning, and final inspection are all handled by us. Builder gets a complete HVAC package.

Garage Heater Installation

Edmonton winters don't care about your garage. We do.

  • Gas-fired unit heater
  • Gas line rough-in
  • Vent + combustion air
  • Fire separation kept intact

We do

  • Sized to garage volume
  • Modine / Reznor or equivalent
  • Permit pulled where required
  • Half-day to full-day install

We don't

  • Compromise garage-to-house separation
  • Run gas line externally
  • Leave the connection for later
  • Undersize for -30°C
1.

Gas line routing is planned during the rough-in stage — not run externally after the fact.

2.

Unit heater is mounted, vented, and connected in one visit. No partial installs waiting on other trades.

3.

If a permit is required, we pull it and coordinate the inspection with your final walkthrough.

Materials in Stock — Start Immediately

Sheet metal, ductwork, and fittings kept in stock with strong supplier backing. No material delays, no waiting.

  • Sheet metal kept in stock
  • Strong supplier backing
  • Sized to NBC 9.33
  • Start same day you're ready

We do

  • Keep sheet metal & ductwork in stock
  • Strong supplier backing for any scale
  • Custom takeoffs ready when you are
  • On-site fitter sealing & reinforcement

We don't

  • Make you wait on material orders
  • Rely on slow third-party shops
  • Delay your rough-in for stock
  • Skip reinforcement at joints
1.

We keep common sheet metal, ductwork, and fittings in stock so your project starts the moment you're ready — no waiting on material orders.

2.

Strong supplier backing means even custom or large-scale takeoffs arrive fast. We don't rely on slow third-party shops.

3.

Our crew fits, seals, and reinforces on-site per SMACNA so airflow holds and inspection passes the first time.

The technical bit

Understanding HVAC zoning

Why multi-unit and custom builds can't share a single HVAC system — and what properly zoned ductwork looks like.

What is HVAC zoning?

Each independently occupied space — suite, unit, or detached structure — gets its own dedicated heating and cooling system. In Alberta it's a code requirement for secondary suites and multi-unit builds, not a preference.

Why it matters on your build

Shared systems create comfort complaints, moisture imbalances, and fire separation violations. Independent systems mean each tenant controls their own heat and each unit passes its own inspection.

How we approach it

We plan the per-unit HVAC layout from your architectural set before framing — furnace locations, duct routes, HRV placement, exhaust terminations. Coordinated with structural drawings, not figured out on the day of rough-in.

Service FAQ

Common questions on our HVAC services

Code references, sequencing, sizing, and what handover looks like — answered the way a builder would ask.

  • On a typical Edmonton new build: furnace placement and gas line, full sheet metal trunk-and-branch ductwork, HRV unit with balanced supply/exhaust, central A/C refrigerant lines pre-drywall, exhaust venting, combustion air, and thermostat wiring. Everything is fabricated and installed by our in-house crew before insulation and drywall.
